Responsibilities

The Certifying Scientist performs testing and analysis in an accurate, efficient and timely manner. Additional responsibilities for Training, thorough understanding of Instrument Software and advanced SCIEX LCMS instrument troubleshooting and maintenance. This position is also responsible for the review and certification of work performed by other staff, and the ancillary tasks ensuring customer satisfaction. 

STATUS: Full-time 
LOCATION: Onsite; Horsham, PA 
DEPARTMENT: Regulated Laboratory 
SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday 

RESPONSIBILITIES 
Certifying & Laboratory Support Performs certifying review of analytical data from immunoassay screens, headspace GC and mass spectral confirmatory techniques (LCMS/MS and GCMS) for Regulated, Non-Regulated, and Forensic casework. Perform Caculations that produce an accurate result. Document and evaluate quality control dat. Verify chain of custody documentation. Review, Certify and release final test results. Perform extractions from biological matrices including urine and blood and has the ability to perform advanced extraction troubleshooting. Train new employees on methods and techniques necessary to complete assigned work. 
Troubleshooting & Quality Control Troubleshoot QC failures, perform investigations and implement error correction training to staff. Participate in quality control activities throughout the laboratory to assure that accurate results are reported by reviewing final reports and collecting all data necessary for routine quality control functions and tests. Data includes but is not limited to Certificates of analysis or performance, Verification and approval documentation, Monthly review documentation etc. Knowledgeable of production instrumentation/ software and capable of performing advanced instrument maintenance, troubleshooting, and method improvements as well as training others on these tasks. Software includes but is not limited to Sciex Analyst, Sciex MultiQuant, and Agilent Chemstation. Participate in the department inventory control program. Inspection Support Participate in the preparation for and performance of annual NLCP inspection and quarterly NLCP Proficiency Testing. Comply with safety rules and regulations to include determining proper handling procedures of samples, cleanliness, and neatness at the workstation and within the testing facility and observance of appropriate personal protective equipment procedures. Other Duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Master’s degree (A minimum of 16 credit hours of chemistry) 

2 years of experience in toxicology laboratory with emphasis on the collection and analysis of biological specimens.

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
