Job Title: Certified Surgical Technician

Salary Range: $20/hr. (2 yr.) - $24.70/hr. (5 yr.) - $25.72/hr. (10 yr.) - $27.76/hr.

Job Summary: The Certified Surgical Technician will be responsible for ensuring the direct and indirect nursing care of patients, assisting in surgical procedures, and performing various tasks in the operating room. The ideal candidate will have a degree from an accredited school of Surgical Technology and must have at least two years of experience as a Surgical Technician. The candidate must also have current certification as a BLS Healthcare Provider through the American Heart Association and must possess excellent customer service, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.

- Demonstrate knowledge and application of sterile technique, equipment, and supplies needed for various surgical procedures.
- Actively participate in time-out procedure.
- Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures.
- Scrubs, gowns, and gloves surgeon and assistant.
- Passes instruments to surgeon during the procedure.
- Maintains the highest standards of sterile technique during the procedure.
- Prepares sterile dressing.
- Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization.
- Assists other members of the team with terminal cleaning of the room.
- Maintains and safely handles medications, including IV fluids and contrast media.
- Records Flash Steam Log and Cidex Log Completely and accurately according to policy.
- Attend in-service presentations and completes all mandatory education requirements.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology preferred.
- Current certification as a BLS Healthcare Provider through the American Heart Association.
- Certified Surgical Technologist preferred.
- At least two years of experience as a Surgical Technician.

- Excellent customer service skills and effective listening skills.
- Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50lbs.
- Ability to work as a member of a team or independently as the situation requires and to prioritize responsibilities.

Shift Schedule:
- Both 6:30a-3p (8 hr.) and 10 hr. shifts available.
- On-call required (7 calls per month, mix of nights/weekends).
- Call pay is $4.
- Shift differentials available for full-time employees (nights).
