The East Greenwich School Department is accepting applications for Certified Substitute Teachers in all academic areas. Long term assignments are still available for the remainder of the 2023-2024 school year.
Under the general supervision of the School Principal, a Substitute Teacher will manage student behaviors in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures. Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school. Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies.
* Must possess one of the current RI Teaching Certifications:
Early Childhood Education Teacher, Grades PK-2
Elementary Education Teacher, Grades 1-6
All Grades Library Media Teacher, Grades PK-12
Elementary/Middle Special Education Teacher, Grades K-8
Middle/Secondary Special Education Teacher, Grades 7-12
All Grades Special Education - Severe Intellectual Disability Teacher
Middle Grades Mathematics Teacher, Grades 5-8 - Secondary Extension
Secondary Grades Mathematics Teacher, Grades 7-12
Middle Grades English Teacher, Grades 5-8 - Secondary Extension
Secondary Grades English Teacher, Grades 7-12
Secondary Grades General Science Teacher, Grades 7-12
Secondary Grades Social Studies Teacher, Grades 7-12
Reading Specialist/Consultant
Secondary Grades Business Education Teacher, Grades 7-12

Responsibilities:
*Familiarity with deeper learning and high leverage instructional practices.
*Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
*Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
*Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
*Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and in harmony with the goals establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and the like, to communicate these objectives to students.
*Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
*Strives to implement by instruction and action the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
*Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
*Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
*Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
*Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
*Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the building principal.
