Pharmacy Technicians – Jacksonville, FL
DUTIES
- Utilize pharmacy computer and robotic systems in accordance with protocols. Operate and manipulate automated, participate in clinical staff Performance Improvement (PI) and Risk Management (RM) functions
- Adhere to essential policies and procedures, including those relating to proper use of medications and the formulary.
- Fill outpatient prescription orders, may assist with inpatient duties based on hospital staffing needs.
- Perform extemporaneous compounding and provision of bulk medications, ensuring there are no chemical and/or physical incompatibilities.
- Utilize available medication information reference materials.
- Provide patient medication information and counseling.
- Order medications using the DMLSS system.
- Educate and orient self and other staff members to the operations and policies of the pharmacy department and clinic.
- Answer telephone call questions from patients or hospital staff on pharmacy related issues.
- Participate in peer review and performance improvement activities.
- Exercise awareness and sensitivity to patient/significant others' rights
REQUIREMENTS
- Education: Graduate from a formal Pharmacy Technician program accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) or a formal Pharmacy Technician program (i.e., technical, hospital, or retail-based program) or a formal medical services training program of the United States Military.
- Certification: Certified by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
- Experience: One year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician after graduation.
- BLS Certification
