Qualifications:
Hold or be eligible for Maryland license and certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant.

Associate's degree in Occupational Therapy assistance, supplemented by up to six (6) months direct experience working with school age children in a therapeutic setting.
Ability to fulfill the dexterity and physical requirements of the work.
Demonstrated stress management skills.
Basic knowledge of principles, practices and procedures of Occupational Therapy.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other staff, students and parents.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Responsibilities:
Provide direct services to students according to established therapy goals under direct supervision of a registered physical/occupational therapist.
Assist the therapist in devising special strategies for reinforcing skills.
Assist in evaluating special needs of students, designing and implementing appropriate therapies; preparing and maintaining appropriate records.
Work with individual students and small groups of students to teach/reinforce skills introduced by the therapist.
Assist in activities to develop any of the following skills: gross motor, fine motor, perceptual, visual motor, sensory system integration, positioning, feeding, range of motion, muscle tone, daily living, etc.
Ensure the safe and effective operational condition and performance of all therapeutic equipment and devices.
Assist registered physical/occupational therapist in establishing developmentally appropriate therapeutic goals for assigned students.
Participate in and/or provide input for team planning functions as appropriate.
Assist in instructing educational staff on therapeutic educationally relevant therapies; communicates with various entities in receiving and disseminating information, i.e., parents, students, school administrators, therapy staff.
Maintain specified records on each student referred, evaluated and/or recommended for on-going treatment.
Report/document student activities and response during therapy sessions.
Ensure compliance with laws and regulatory standards governing the provision of physical and/or occupational therapeutic services.
Perform related work as required.
