QUALIFICATIONS:
- CNA Certificate from the Arizona State Board of Nursing and in good standing
- CPR/First Aide Certified
- Hearing Screener Certified preferred
- Provide direct service to medically challenged students under supervision of the school nurse
- Be on call for medical issues for students
- Administer emergency care as needed
- Acts as liaison with school district nurse and site administrator
- Screen for vision and hearing, as needed
- Participate, as needed with school district planning for medical emergencies/triage
- Assist the R.N. in performing daily medical activities for the special needs children in the Special Education department.
- Independently perform daily medical activities on the special needs children when Special Education R.N. is out of the district (G-tube, medications, range of motion and toileting or other medical issues for medically fragile students
- Develop good communication between the Special Education R.N., classroom teachers, health aides, therapists, parents and community resources
- Put into practice safe skills when working with the special needs children
- Triage sick children and follow district policies for sick/injured students
- Document in written form daily medical activities performed on students
