JOB SUMMARY
The mission of the Certified Medical Assistant is to support all Health Center operations and provide excellent care to all patients. As directed by the State scope of Practice, Provider, Registered Nurse, and the Clinical Operations Manager, the Medical Assistant assists the Provider and works with other members of the care team to serve as a frontline representative of and deliver on the PMD patient promise. The PRN MA works on an as-needed basis, filling in for regular staff during their absence.
PRN hours available covering our Myrtle Beach, Conway and Georgetown, SC Clinics.
This PRN care team member will be required to engage a minimum of 6 shifts per quarter (every 3 months) to keep their PRN employment status with PMD.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare, dispense, and administer medications as ordered by the Provider
Perform phlebotomy and process lab specimens
Prepare patients to be seen by the provider through interview/intake, review of medical history, vital sign assessment, and necessary patient visit details
Performs basic clerical duties including answering the phone, maintaining records, and filing.
Performs basic materials management functions to include ordering and stocking supplies. Assists with maintaining a clean and orderly environment.
- Documents the provider's encounter with patients: diagnoses and symptoms, as well as follow-up instructions and prescriptions, as indicated by the provider. Transcribes patient orders including, but not limited to, laboratory tests, radiology tests, and medications.

Preferred:
Associate degree or equivalent from an accredited Medical Assistant training program Knowledge of Internet software, spreadsheet software, word processing software, and electronic medical records. Ability to communicate effectively and maintain working relationships with people from diverse backgrounds
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Required:
Certification as a Medical Assistant High school diploma or equivalent Proficient in phlebotomy and lab specimen processing Current certification in Basic Life Support Knowledge of HIPAA.
