CMHC is looking for a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join their team! CMA's must have a positive attitude and have strong attention to detail.
General Responsibilities:
The Medical Assistant will work with the prescriber and other members of the staff to ensure continuity of care and professional team to provide quality care for all our clients. The position will cover all of the clients that are in Outpatient Psychiatric service at CMHC. The MA will report to the Program Director of Medication Management. The Medical Assistant will assist the clinical staff in performing their duties and ensure that all functions are in their scope of practice and completed within the required accordance of established policies and procedures of CMHC.
Day-to-Day Expectations:
- Greet clients with a positive attitude and always encourage clients to return to clinic and to maintain stability.
- Advocate for the clients both in community and CMHC.
- Check with support staff regarding schedule noting cancellations or calls that need attention for the day.
- Record into chart: weight, height, Blood Pressure, pulse and BMI and waist. Will update according to CMHC procedures. (Waist and BMI do not need to be done every visit).
- Enter allergies and pharmacy. If on medication enter any psychiatric medication including medical medications to chart. Communicate with other involved physicians as indicated to coordinate care and avoid duplicate prescribing. Keep therapist informed of identified concerns and facilitate coordination with all team members
- Assist clients in applying for indigent medications, calling the patient assistant programs as necessary, entering amount into medication portal, prepare for pick up and inform client when ready. Follow CMHC procedure for storing and preparing medication for client.
- Completes Service Activity Logs (SARs) and other relevant documentation to ensure fair and accurate data collection for billing , fee stetting ,the Management Information System and other purposes in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Must have high school diploma or equivalent certificate.
- Must be willing to work with mentally ill clients and families/providers.
- Prior experience as a Medical Assistant and / or experience in mental health required.
- Addictions experience preferred.
- Must be vaccinated for COVID19 or apply for an exemption
