Michigan Head & Spine Institute is currently seeking a full-time Medical Assistant for our busy Neurosurgical practice in our Dearborn clinic office.
MHSI is the largest, most experienced group of physicians in Southeast Michigan dedicated to treating patients with disorders of the head and spine.
Summary of Position: The Medical Assistant performs a variety of clerical and / or clinical functions associated with patient care, EHR maintenance and other organization functions.
Job Duties: Open and Close clinics on a daily basis as assigned. Documents all care in the EHR. Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; recording medical history; confirming purpose of visit, medication documentation, pharmacy information. Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; reporting patient history summary and documentation of all information in the EHR. Removes sutures and staples as needed, dressing changes. Assists physicians with procedures as needed. Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records; keeping patient information confidential. Schedules surgeries / procedures by verifying times with patients; preparing charts, pre-admission and consent forms. Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations. Keeps supplies ready by assessing inventory / stock; placing orders; verifying receipt. Stock and replace used supplies on a daily basis. Assists with patient care in MHSI procedure rooms. Keeps equipment operating properly by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements:
- Medical Assistant certification (preferred)
- Minimum 2 years experience in clinical setting
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Developed organizational skills
- Excellent customer service - patient focused
