JOB SUMMARY
Under general supervision, responsible for performing a wide variety of medical and clinical support functions in an outpatient clinical settings. May assist with clinical and laboratory procedures, maintain equipment, provide direct patient care, and administer common medications according to unit guidelines and providers' orders. May support the documentation of patients as dictated by the physician or provider.

Education
High school diploma or GED and graduation from a Medical Assistant program is required.
Experience
Three (3) years of directly-related experience as a Medical Assistant is required.
Additional Licenses and Certifications
CPR is required, and Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification

Job Duties
1.Intakes patients by obtaining vital signs, weight, etc.
2.Obtains history, chief complaint, medications, allergies, EKG, etc. and documents appropriately in the Electronic medical record.
3.Report all pertinent findings to Physicians.
4.Manages patientÆs appointments according to the doctorÆs schedules and protocols.
5.Triages calls, medications/refills and facilitates patient needs, and documents all communication into the EMR system.
6.Answers messages from patients by clinic policy.
7.Handle all medication refills or request via clinic policy.
8.Prepares charts as necessary for next scheduled clinic, provide physician with all necessary test results, lab results and medical records as requested.
9.Communicate all necessary patient information to physician in a timely manner.
10.Handles and answers external as well as internal phone calls and assists in department call center transferring calls to the appropriate departments.
11.Triage calls, medications/refills and facilitates patient needs, and documents all communication into the electronic medical records (EMR) system.
12.Performs all other duties as assigned.
