Form of workPosition Title: High School Teacher; Middle School TeacherReports to: Site PrincipalFLSA Designation: ExemptCalendar: 9 Month SUMMARY: Instructs students in activities designed to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth in the subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible men and women. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned by supervisor. Teaches district approved curriculumCreates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity interests of the studentsPrepares for classes assignedTakes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilitiesEmploys a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involvedGuides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and in harmony with the goals establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and the like to communicate these objectives to studentsAssists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just mannerAssesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as requiredEvaluates students' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reportsEncourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behaviorMaintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulationAssessable to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional dayWorks well with both supervisors and other members of the teamMaintains consistent and punctual attendancePerforms other duties assigned by supervisor or administrator SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Students, teacher assistant/paraprofessionals (if assigned)QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
