Job Summary and Qualifications

  • Performs duties under the supervision of the Medical Director, Wound Care Center Director, and/or Clinical Coordinator as appropriate for the program.
  • Is responsible for the safe and effective operation of the hyperbaric chambers and related support systems.
  • Responsible for operating and maintaining a safe environment for all patients and members of the hyperbaric team during hyperbaric chamber operations.
  • Is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the hyperbaric chambers and related support systems.
  • Responsible for administering hyperbaric oxygen therapy as prescribed by the Hyperbaric Provider. This will include monitoring the patient and hyperbaric chamber equipment throughout each treatment.
  • In addition, will report to the Center HBO Safety Officer Director with respect to safety issues and/or concerns.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Current Certification as Certified Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT) or Diving Medical Technician (DMT)
  • Must have completed a National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology approved hyperbaric medicine introductory course.
  • Complete competency skills checklist.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or certificate equivalent.

Actively Certified in one of the following vocations:

  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) / Paramedic
  • Licensed Practical Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse, Current RN
  • Chamber Technician/Operator from Military
  • Certified Hyperbaric Wound Specialist (CHWS)
  • Respiratory Therapist
  • Active Duty Military Corpsman
  • Certified Nursing Assistant
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in healthcare or the diving industry is required. Wound care, hyperbaric medicine, and or experience in emergency medicine or acute medical care is preferred.
  • Specific training and/or experience in compression chamber operations, including a demonstrated knowledge of decompression tables strongly desired.
  • Ability to physically meet the working conditions required of the job.
  • Computer literate. Proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook and Word. Able to navigate through internet and intranet.
