JOB DESCRIPTION
CERTIFIED FOOD HANDLER
BASIC FUNCTION
Overseeing the serving of meals and maintaining sanitary conditions in the kitchen.
REPORTING LINE
Reports to Health/Nutritionist
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Managing menu planning, ordering, and serving of meals in the facility.
- Maintaining good communication with food vendor representatives.
- Maintaining inventory of foodstuffs, supplies, and kitchen equipment.
- Maintaining all freezers and refrigerators in good condition and disposing of all day-old
- prepared food.
- Supervising kitchen aides and program aides helping in the kitchen and the dining room.
- Ordering appropriate food and supplies from Comfort Foods and other discount vendors.
- Preparation of special needs meals for diabetic clients and other special meals that are
- medically indicated.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED, Food Handler Certificate, and experience with food
preparation and service in a publicly funded environment, good people.
Reports to Senior Certified Food Handler and Health/Nutritionist
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Preparing for and serving breakfast/dinner in the facility.
- Carrying out breakfast/dinner kitchen clean-up with the help of maintenance staff.
- Set-up up the dining room for dinner and helped prepare same in cooperation with the Senior
- Certified Food Handler.
- Serving dinner and cleaning up leaving the kitchen in proper condition for the morning meal
- service.
- Preparation of snack food for clients and special needs meals requested by Social Service
- staff.

Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED. Food Handler Certificate. Demonstrated maturity and
good judgment as attested in references from school or prior jobs.
