Performs Cardiovascular ECHO procedures: Cardiac ECHO, Stress ECHO, Persantine Stress, Dobutamine Stress, TEE, Carotid, and other vascular procedures. Performs all procedures with highest level of patient care. Performs clerical duties in a timely and efficient manner in order to insure proper document flow and storage through and to the area of laboratory.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1. High School graduate or equivalent.
2. Registered in ARDMS and Echocardiography.
EXPERIENCE:
1. One (1) year within a Certified Echocardiography laboratory or vascular laboratory.
CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. They are not intended to be constructed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities and duties. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Explains procedures at a level the patient will understand (i.e. speaking slowly and at a level that can be heard by geriatric patients, and displaying compassion, empathy and concern for adult, young adult, geriatric, neonatal and pediatric patients). Displays compassion, empathy and concern for adult, young adult, geriatric, neonate and pediatric patients. Answers patient questions about procedure with clarity.
2. Applies and removes event monitors along with instructions to patients of the use of such devices. Preps patient skin according to policy and procedure to ensure best possible recording.
3. Removes monitor at scheduled time, completes necessary paperwork and use proper procedure to download files into the computer. Ability to access the computer system to retrieve and reproduce completed Echo exams.
4. Exercises through knowledge base inclusive of cardiothoracic anatomy and proper lead placement.
5. Coordinates outpatient testing with inpatient demands prioritizing emergency and "stat" calls in the patient care areas without direct supervision.
6. Maintains adequate and appropriate records as directed. Responsible for documentation of clinical and technical history on patient. Responsible for accurate utilization of the computer to document patient and exam information and charging functions.
7. Assures that all required consent, history and screening forms are completed and verified by signature of customer and/or legal guardian and/or physician, and/or technologist prior to performing procedure.
8. Communicates with other health care professionals, including patient referral sources, verbally and in writing.
9. Maintains level of supplies/materials, assist with care maintenance of department equipment, and reports malfunctions to supervisor.
10. Demonstrates good organizational and time management skills to effectively balance patient treatment needs, documentation, and educational requirements. Manages time effectively to maximize the volume of patients.
11. Follows hospital, state and federal guidelines for ensuring safe environment for workers, patients and public. Maintains and monitors staff compliance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures for safety, security, and infection control. Including privacy, patient confidentiality and HIPAA.
12. Ensures the facilities and equipment for patient services are maintained to promote comfort, efficiency and safety for patients and staff. Documents and reports malfunctioning equipment immediately to appropriate management staff.
13. Always utilizes protective shielding appropriate to ordered exam on all customers. Prepares and administers contrast media according to established guidelines and procedures under the supervision. Obtains work related continuing education as required for professional licensure
14. Communicates and interacts with patients, families, visitors, physicians, departmental and hospital staff and the public in general in a manner that demonstrates professionalism and concern for the individuals' need(s).
15. Obtains work related continuing education on a yearly basis. Utilizes that knowledge in the development and improvement of staff and treatments, promoting high standards of ECHO Services.
16. Remains current and responsive to changes in healthcare delivery, standards established by professional organizations, regulatory and accrediting bodies and the needs of the organization. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs and current professional literature.
17. Actively participates in in-services, medical conferences, staff meetings, continuing education courses, rehab team meetings, clinics, hospital wide committees and other meetings as needed or required.
18. Participates in Quality initiatives to help assess and improve the services provided and compliance with regulatory requirements. Reports results to appropriate administrative levels.
19. Performs other duties as assigned which support the mission and values of the organization
20. Willingly accepts assignments within scope of practice, skill set and level of competence.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
1. Able to tolerate working with and around noxious odors. Able to ambulate, position, turn and pull up self-assisting adult patients. Possible exposure to: electrical current, elevated noise level and sharps.
2. Able to bend, stoop, reach and be capable of normal rotation, standing and walking for an 8 hour shift. Able to lift 40 pounds from floor to waist.
3. Must meet Department of Labor's MEDIUM duty standard (MEDIUM WORK- exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly)
