CERTIFIED ART LEAD TEACHER - HALF-TIME CONTENT SPECIALIST/HALF-TIME 
FOUR DAY WORK WEEK FOR SCHOLARS AND EMPLOYEES!

JOB GOAL
To assure that all students learn the basic and essential skills at each grade level. Art Content Specialist- Assumes responsibility for supporting the professional growth of district art teachers by strengthening their understanding of subject area content.  Responsible for Art Lead/coordinator duties.

   QUALIFICATIONS
  • Current Arizona Elementary, Secondary, and/or Special Education Teaching Certificate.
  • Current Art Endorsement or related Art professional experience.
  • Art Coordinator or Leadership experience preferred.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of State and National Standards for Art.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in teaching as evidenced by principal evaluations and student achievement.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and is able to effectively lead a professional learning community.
  • Demonstrates professional development skills and works effectively with adults.
  • Evidence of strong interpersonal skills.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
 


PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

 
  • All duties of art teacher as per district job description.
  • Plans and delivers professional learning for art teachers.
  • Acts as the lead for art instruction, art communication and district art programs for teachers and students.
  • Acts as a liaison to Educational Services and Principals
  • Plans and facilitates art team collaboration (PLC) meetings.
  • Coaches and mentors art teachers as assigned or needed.
  • Works to ensure a high standard and equity for effective art programs across the district.
  • Promotes and models social-emotional learning for students.
  • Supports teachers with instructional planning and district with art pacing guides and curriculum map recommendations.
  • Ensures art teachers employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
  • Ensures art teachers assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports and standards-based grading guidelines.
  • Plans and provides professional development for art teachers.
  • Ensures during orientation week that art teachers understand safety of students to ensure all necessary and reasonable precautions are taken to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Supports art teachers with planning and differentiating instruction for students with varied educational needs, special education students, English Learners and students with 504 plans.
  • Supports art teachers with classroom management, including procedures and systems to ensure a highly motivated and engaging art experience.
  • Makes provisions for being available to students and parents for educational-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms (Open House, Parent/Teacher Conferences, etc.).
  • Continues professional growth through attendance at workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or advanced course work at institutions of higher learning.
  • Demonstrates awareness of Governing Board policies and State Statutes related to job responsibilities.
  • All other duties as assigned.
 KNOWLEGE AND SKILLS
  • Knowledge of applicable Federal, state, county and city statutes, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of applicable Cartwright School District and departmental policies and procedures.
