Cellarman/ Assistant Brewer/Delivery Driver
Powerhouse Restaurant and Brewery is looking to add a new member to our crew. This person will be doing entry level cellar work, delivering beer to our expanding off site accounts on a regular basis, cleaning/sanitization and learning to operate our 7 bbl brew pub.
We are hiring for an eager and detail oriented, entry-level brewery person with a clean driving record, who is comfortable driving a company van for deliveries. The role can expect to be delivering beer at least one day a week, with their remaining time working in the cellar, and learning all aspects of the brewing process. This role will need to be able to team lift 165 lb kegs into and out of the van, manipulate a hand cart with kegs and lift 55 lb malt bags over their head. This position will begin training on keg cleaning, keg filling, and CIPing tanks, grain out, and general cleaning of the brewery. Eventually beer transfers, dry hopping, brew day CIPs and more. Candidates must be committed to quality, helping to create a safe working environment, have a great work ethic and attitude, love cleaning/sanitization, and be excited to learn.
Responsibilities:
- Operation and basic maintenance of company van and delivery to off-site locations around the puget sound.
- Operate brewery equipment while adhering to safety protocol
- Keg cleaning, keg filling, and tank CIPs
- Clean, sanitize all equipment, tanks and work areas to maintain consistent beer quality
- Accurate recording of various quality parameters
- Accurate recording of beer and ingredient transfers
- Ongoing cleaning and organization of brewery
- Be flexible, agreeable, and a team player as work times and locations change as needed to produce the best beer possible while meeting production goals
- Maintaining Powerhouse standards of quality
- Ability/knowledge to safely work with chemicals present in the brewery.
- Other duties as assigned
Experience and Skill Requirements:
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Eager to grow in craft beer. Beer knowledge or the ability to become an expert
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record & State of Washington Class 12 liquor license (alcohol server card)
- Physical strength, flexibility and stamina required – must be able to lift 55 lbs repeatedly, and maneuver full kegs.
- Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and spend extended amount of time on your feet
- Conditions can run from wet, hot and cold conditions, depending on duty and season.
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Commitment to being a part of a team and working for larger goals
- Strong organizational, communication, and record keeping skills
- Strong time management skills, an attention to details required, and strength in multi-tasking
- Self-motivated, and ability to often work unsupervised from task lists
- Good people skills, good communication, personal skills and professional demeanor
- Weekend availability required for production or events as needed (although minimal or rare as of now)
- Reliable transportation to work is required
- 30-40 hours per week with some weekends as needed
Compensation:
Compensation will depend on skill level and experience
Pay Range: $18-23/hr
