About the role

 

This cellar worker would perform all cellar duties pertinent to the production of quality wines.  Continuously learn and improve on techniques such as racking, blending, barrel work and harvest operations to further the goal of TWE to become the most successful wine company in the world.

  • Work professionally and maturely when working under supervision or working independently.
  • Learn and adhere to all Safety and Food Quality standards and practices.
  • Perform all Cellar sanitation according to SOP's as listed in the Cellar performance matrix.
  • Perform all Cellar operations such as racking, blends, shipping/receiving, wine movements, measurements, etc. as listed in the Cellar performance matrix.
  • Operate all Cellar and harvest equipment; including wine pumps, presses, destemmer, cap management devices, filters, etc.
  • Knowledge of wine additives and their proper use and handling.  Knowledge of chemical SDS warnings and proper safety methods of handling chemicals.
  • Perform tank additions according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Perform all inventories, including bulk wine tanks, chemicals, and barrels.
  • Perform tank measurements.
  • Learn barrels by type, cooper, vintage and location.
  • Organize and maintain Cellar barrel inventory and maintenance, including barrel scanning.
  • Learn and perform Mobile bottling operations, including Dry Goods inventory controls.
  • Perform barrel work as listed in the Cellar performance matrix.
  • Responsible for cellar parts and equipment organization and cleanliness.
  • Learn the location and capacity of all tanks and transfer lines.
  • Miscellaneous duties including maintenance, painting, and other special projects as assigned.
  • Teach and assist in the development of the temporary harvest Wine Technicians and less experienced Wine Tech 1 & 2.
  • Communicate in writing to other shifts, winemakers and lab.
  • Learn the winemaking process.
  • Complete Continuous Improvement projects as assigned.
  • Forklift operation and certification.

 

 

About you

  • HS Diploma or equivalent desired.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Basic English, written and verbal.
  • Overtime required, especially at harvest.
  • Must be able to regularly lift up to 50 pounds.
  • A minimum of 5 years of winery cellar experience
  • Demonstrated leadership capability.
  • Ability to be a team player, an effective communicator, adaptive, self-directed and organized.
  • Demonstrated desire to learn.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence neatly and clearly.
  • Must have a working knowledge of cellar winemaking requirements. 
  • Ability to work overtime and evenings as required. 
  • Can work with minimal supervision.
  • Reliable transportation and valid CA driver's license required.
  • Must contribute to a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a courteous and professional manner.

Pay Transparency Disclosure: The base pay range offered for this position is based on an hourly salary of $$26 to $30, based on experience.  These figures represent what we reasonably expect to pay for this position, but the actual compensation offered will depend upon numerous job-related factors, including but not limited to candidate qualifications, skills, experience, education, location, and alignment with market data. Our expectation is that the incumbent will work out of Napa, CA.  If the incumbent works out of another location, the wage rate may fall above or below this range. Treasury reserves the right to modify the range in the future.
