Cellar Master Hearst Ranch Winery

Job Summary:

The Cellar Master works closely with the Winemaker to manage the day to day and harvest functions of the cellar to ensure a clean, safe, efficient and effective work environment. Hearst Ranch Winery is a mid-sized family owned and operated winery in Paso Robles.

Essential Duties:

- Executes daily work schedules and assign work processes
- Supervises, trains, and develops full-time and seasonal production staff
- Experienced forklift driver with ability to operate under no supervision
- Supervise both tank and barrel wine tasks
- Manages and ensures barrel inventories are correct and organized
- Ensures production equipment is properly maintained and operating to safety standards
- Responsible for monitoring cellar and supplies
- Ensures requested samples are pulled for lab and stays abreast of sample status
- Coordinate Employee Safety protocols and sanitation
- Facilitates processes related to comparison tasting and samples for additional blends

Qualifications:
- Two (2) years previous winery experience

-Forklift certified with experience stacking barrels
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred but not required
- Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing in English. Conversational Spanish strongly desired
- Demonstrate strong ability to work under pressure
- Must be able to perform technical calculations, assemble data in spreadsheets
- Ability to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.

- Familiarity with Vintrace and Excel for tracking cellar orders preferred

- Availability to work occasional weekends – required during harvest

Education

Bachelor’s Degree preferred

Experience

2 years Cellar

Training

Forklift certification or knowledge

Licenses/Certifications

Valid California Class C driver’s license.

Language Skills

Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing. Ability to communicate in basic Spanish desirable.

Computer Skills

Working knowledge of spreadsheets and basic programs.

Knowledge

Familiarity with the Wine Industry and winemaking

Equipment

Typical cellar equipment; vehicles.

Ability to lift 40 pounds

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
