Project Outline:

The intern will be working on evaluating the effect of Lenalidomide, an IKAROS inhibitor in enhancing CAR-Vδ1 T cell functions. The specific studies will include:

  • Examine if Lenalidomide, an IKAROS inhibitor and FDA-approved immunomodulatory small molecule, can improve the cytotoxicity, cytokine secretion and persistence of CAR-Vδ1 T cells.

  • Using RNA-seq and ATAC-seq to analyze gene expression and epigenetic changes in CAR-Vδ1 T cells with or without Lenalidomide treatment.

  • Test additional genetic approaches such as shRNA/KD to modulate IKAROS expression in CAR-Vδ1 T cells and the feasibility to incorporate into CAR-Vd1 T cell products.

This position is fully on-site.

Requirements / Qualifications:
  • Currently authorized to work in the US (United States) without sponsorship. Takeda does not provide sponsorship for internship positions.

  • Available to work full-time (40 hours/week), within the core business hours of 8:00am – 5:00pm, for 12 weeks during the summer months.

  • Graduate, PhD, MD student with completion of a minimum of one year of university studies.

  • Must be enrolled in school the semester following your internship with Takeda.

  • Experience with immunology, cell biology and/or molecular biology strongly preferred.

  • Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture required. Previous experience with primary human immune cell culture preferred.

  • Previous working experience with gene editing, RNA-seq and ATAC-seq is a plus.

  • Please note that Takeda does not provide intern housing or a housing stipend.

The hourly pay rate range is $20.00 per hour - $46.00 per hour. The final pay rate offered for this internship may consider several factors including, but not limited to, location, skills, education, and experience.
