ESP is currently recruiting all levels of CEI Inspectors for highway and bridge projects throughout Eastern North Carolina. Previous experience in the inspection of transportation projects and certifications from NCDOT are needed but not required. The candidate will need to obtain necessary certifications in a timely manner once hired. Candidate must be able to pass a drug screen, background check, and have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the company’s driving (MVR) policy.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform inspector duties on NCDOT and County transportation construction projects. This includes inspection services for asphalt, concrete, erosion control, traffic control, earthwork, and other construction materials and processes as required by the project
  • Ensure the operations being covered by the inspector are executed by the contractor as outlined in the NCDOT Standard Specifications for Roads and Structures manual as well as the Roadway Standard Drawings manual
  • Obtain, prepare, record and review all materials used for the project to ensure correspondence with specifications
  • Analyze, understand, and execute tasks, and provide any feedback needed to upper-level inspectors or project management
  • Complete daily reports of Earthwork Construction logbook, daily diaries, progress updates, and any other necessary documentation as per management or client
  • Measure and verify dimensions (unclassified excavation), installations (silt fence, length of pipe), for job operations
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly estimates to include verifying, recording, and reporting quantities for job operations
  • Attend project safety meetings
  • Coordinate daily and weekly schedules as required with necessary workforce
  • Provide support and feedback to other inspectors on the project as needed.

Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in roadway construction inspection
  • Currently possess or have the ability to obtain the following certifications:
    1. NCDOT Asphalt Roadway Technician
    2. NCDOT Earthwork and Base Course Technician
    3. Nuclear Gauge Technician Certification
    4. NCDOT Concrete Technician Level 1 & 2
    5. NCDOT Foundations Technician
    6. Certified Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control Inspector (CEPSCI)
    7. NCDOT Advanced Work Zone Traffic Control
    8. ACI Field Grade Technician I
    9. IMSA Certifications
  • Basic computer skills are required
  • Must be able to have the ability to work nights, holidays, and weekends as needed
  • Candidates will be required to pass a drug screen, background check, and have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the company’s driving (MVR) policy.
