CEI Inspector VDOT Richmond

DFI is searching for new team members to join our family in the VDOT Richmond District. We are seeking CEI Inspectors with relevant industry certifications and experience.

Duties: CEI Inspector/s, perform standardized inspection of construction work, construction methods, safety and environmental methods, material testing procedures, engineering principles and documentation of same for Roadway and Bridge inspection. Ability to effectively use VDOT’s e-Construction systems to maintain records/correspondence (AWP, SM, PlanGrid, ProjectWise, SharePoint Records
Management, etc.), Experience with and proper certifications with VDOT pavement markings are required. Able to
process monthly estimates, analyze/make recommendations pertaining to progress schedules, maintain/finalize materials
notebook and all required records, and handle a contract's administration duties under the supervision of Construction
Manager. Other inspector duties as assigned which generally includes calculations and computations. You typically will provide independent inspection of construction materials, and installation to assure compliance with the construction contract specifications and plans.

Responsibilities include:

• Making and checking engineering computations

• Inspecting construction work

• Conducting field tests

• Inspection of truck load tickets for aggregate, asphalt or concrete

• Writes daily inspection reports, performs verification testing, and documents test results and observations

• Assists in all types of record keeping and field measurements, as needed

• Work is performed under the general supervision of the Project Administrator.

Requirements

Applicants shall have • High School Diploma or equivalent • Experience in transportation construction inspection and associated VDOT Certifications, or appropriate education/ degree. Must have a valid driver’s license and immediate ability to work in the United States. All employees are subject to drug testing and background investigation. Compensation based upon experience and qualifications.
