Cdl Truck Driver

Location: Chattanooga, TN

Position: Truck Driver - must have CDL

Pay: .81 per mile

The Chattanooga, TN location has an opening for a Truck Driver with a CDL. This position will report directly to the Logistic Supervisor and will be responsible for safely transporting raw materials and finished goods from supplier locations to plant, or from plant to paper mill. Will mainly be operating semi-truck runs but will also be cross trained to fill in in other areas of transportation when needed. Required to comply with all DOT regulations. Required to perform inspections on trucks and trailers and maintain accurate paperwork.

What you will be doing:

• Compliance with Sonoco safety rules.
• Compliance with DOT regulations.
• Fully understand how to operate and safely drive your assigned vehicle.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of your assigned vehicle and report any needed repairs to your supervisor.
• Maintain and service vehicle as needed (refuel, check fluids, check tire pressures).
• Efficiently follow assigned daily pickup and drop off schedule.
• Maintain accurate and legible paperwork for daily pickups and drop offs to include customer/ mill, truck and/ or trailer numbers, tare weight, gross weight and grade being transported.
• Ensure contents are secure in or on the truck or trailer prior to transporting.
• Obey all applicable traffic laws and drive according to the weather/ road conditions.
• Assist in the loading or unloading of your truck if required.
• Perform other job duties as needed.
• Make safety a priority at all times.

• Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) required.
• Clean driving record with no moving violations.
• Must pass a background check and drug screen.
• Skilled at driving and parking large, heavy vehicles and/ or trailers.
• Alert, focused and detail oriented.
• Must have ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating procedures, directions, and routing assignments.
• Must have the ability to operate a forklift and pallet jack.
• Must be willing to work overtime as needed.
• Must be able to maintain good attendance.
• A minimum of 2+ years experience operating a semi truck
