CDL DRIVER TRAINER JOB RESPONSIBILITES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Identify training needs by defining success for the position, then evaluating strengths, weaknesses and opportunities for improvement
- Work with the training team to create action plans and annual training schedules for all locations for various operations positions, based on Granger defined goals and needs assessments
- Identify and create processes for monitoring and evaluating training successes, key performance indicators and methods for continuous development and education
o Build training programs and prepare teaching plans for all waste vehicles and other operations tools/equipment, including instructional materials, job aids, processes and procedures to support safe, efficient driving and waste collection
- Maintain Smith System Instructor Certification and conduct Smith System training and retraining for all applicable associates
- Conduct new hire orientation for drivers, mechanics, operators and other groups, to include all safety-related education and policy review/sign offs
- Create and conduct train-the-trainer sessions to build out effective training delivery across all Granger locations
- Provide training support to the maintenance, recycling and landfill teams at all locations
o Assist in analyzing and assessing training/retraining and development needs for individuals and/or departments
- Assess training effectiveness to ensure incorporation of skills and techniques taught into associates’ long-term work behavior
- Collect and accurately enter data into the Learning Management System, including running reports and reading/understanding outputs
- Always serve as a role model for safety, to include abiding by all safety expectations, pointing out unsafe acts by others, always wearing required PPE and continuously seeking out opportunities to improve safety in all work areas
- Provide constructive and honest feedback to supervisors and managers regarding associate performance and engagement both within training events and observed workplace behaviors
- Expand knowledge and training skills to be used in other areas and with other equipment, such as overhead cranes, lifts/ladders, shop equipment, etc.
- Participate in special projects as needed
CDL DRIVER TRAINER QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED, required
- Prior experience as a trainer, preferably in the transportation industry
- Prior experience operating trash trucks or heavy equipment preferred
- CDL B required, with sign offs to safely and effectively operate all Granger trucks
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel) and instructional software, preferred
