CDL Class B Drivers - Marietta, GA

Baldwin Paving Company, Inc. is currently seeking drivers with a CDL Class B license to join our team. This will be a full time role. This position reports to our Trucking Superintendent.

***NOTE:  Must possess and maintain CDL-B license and DOT physical card.***

Summary:

Performs a variety of duties relating to equipment and other material distribution activities and requires a CDL-A license.

Essential Duties:

• Responsible for performing daily pre and post-trip inspections on all assigned vehicles.
• Conduct and document vehicle inspections to ensure that all safety devices are in proper working order including brakes, warning buzzers, ESO, tires, and delivery hoses.
• Conduct and document the pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure that the safe transporting of water/ fuel/ liquid asphalt is by DOT/FMSCA and any other applicable regulations.
• Safe transportation and delivery of cargo to various job sites. Maintains truck log, according to state and federal regulations.
• Maintains telephone contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions.
• Inspects truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, diesel, oil, and water.
• Positions blocks, use chains, and load binders to secure cargo before transit and loading and unloading process
• Operate assigned vehicle and all attached equipment in a safe manner and accordance with FMSCA regulations
• Gauge and record levels on production/freshwater tanks
• Prepare all required reports
• Other duties as assigned

Education

A high school diploma or equivalent is desired but not required.

Requirements

Must maintain CDL-B license and DOT physical card,  and have 2+ years of CDL driving experience.

Work Environment:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving and mechanical parts and equipment.
• The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
• The employee will be exposed to dust and fumes from cleaners, gasoline, diesel, exhaust….
• The employee will work outdoors, and will be exposed to the weather, including extremes in heat and cold, rain…

Physical Demands:

• The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and requires manual dexterity and strength in arms and feet to manipulate equipment controls, tools, and other items used to make adjustments and/or minor maintenance.
• Will use hands, arms, back, and shoulders to handle, install, position, move items, and manipulate other objects.
• Could be in a standing, bending, kneeling, or sitting position for long periods.
• Enter and exit trucks with elevated cabs multiple times per day, using steps, handrails.

Other Requirements:

Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.  Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.  Ready to begin work at the designated start time. Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Safety Manual. Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.

Personal Protective Equipment:

Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA and company policy. Protective equipment that may be required, but not limited to, for this position: Coveralls, Fall Protection, Gloves, Welding Gloves, Hard Hat, Hearing Protection, Padlocks for Lockout/Tagout, Respiratory Protection, Safety Glasses, Safety (hard toe) Shoes, Welding Aprons, Welding Helmet, Welding Shield.
