Job Description
The CDI facilitates accurate documentation for severity of illness, risk of mortality and quality in the medical record. This involves extensive record review, interaction with physicians, health information management professionals and other departments.
Requirements
RN/BSN/NP/PA/MD/RHIT, or equivalent combination of relevant certification (CCDS/CDIP/CCS) and work experience. 3 years of health care related work experience. Adult acute care experience in med/surg, critical care, ER, OR, or PACU and inpatient CDI/Coding experience.CCDS, CDIP, CCS, or current licensure as a registered nurse. CDI software, EMR, computer proficiency. Strong interpersonal skills with emphasis on physician relations. Strong clinical knowledge. Basic knowledge of regulatory environment. Time management skills. Ability to learn/develop the necessary skills. Ability to form effective working relationships with colleagues, physicians, and management. Visual and hearing acuity. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Ability to meet physical demands of the job, including extensive electronic chart review.
