The Electrical Engineer is responsible for applying standard theories, techniques, concepts, and practices within the electrical discipline. This position specifies, orders, and oversees the installation of maintenance projects. Additionally, this position assists, champions, and supports major capital projects. The Electrical Engineer is responsible for troubleshooting complex electrical problems involving refinery maintenance and reliability. The Electrical Engineer defines program and documentation standards to ensure refinery reliability and equipment availability.

Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrument Engineering, Electronic Engineering.
Years of Experience Required for Engineering Career Progression Program:
Band 1 - Associate, entry level (Overall GPA of 3.0 or greater) (A=4.0)
Band 2 - Minimum of Two (2) years of related engineering experience
Band 3 - Minimum of Eight (8) years of related enginering experience
PREFERRED:
Working with high voltage equipment and substantions up to 138 kV
Candidates must be able to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credentials Card)
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: The Maritime Transportation Security Act requires all persons who will need unescorted access to a regulated facility to have a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC), issued in accordance with the rules established by the United States Coast Guard and the Transportation Security Administration. Candidates selected for employment must meet eligibility criteria to obtain a TWIC card.

- Design moderately complex electrical systems for refinery maintenance and capital projects, including field and substation specifications.
- Support Instrumentation/Electrical Maintenance Technicians with complex field problems. Assist in technical training and craftsmen technical skills development.
- Develop, review, and modify refinery electrical standards with vendors recommendations and NFPA codes.
- Assist in Turnaround work scope development.
- Develop, submit, and track Engineering Work Requests for electrical capital improvement projects.
- Evaluate new electrical technologies to improve existing systems and resolve safety and process problems (i.e. UPS systems, motors, substation equipment, electromechanical relays, etc).
- Act as electrical subject matter expert during internal and external audits, regulatory investigations, unit PHA’s, and other refinery special projects.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis on electrical incidents and investigations.
- Review and approve electrical system studies for refinery up to 138 kV. Make recommendations for improvements of system studies relating to electrical coordination and arc flash study.
- Update refinery documentation as needed for electrical modifications such as electrical one-lines, motor schematics, relaying and related substation equipment.
