Position Title: Catering Sales Manager, Winterthur Museum 

Pay 11

Job Summary

Located at the Winterthur Museum in partnership with Restaurant Associates, this role as Catering Sales Manager is pivotal in efficiently coordinating and overseeing a wide range of catering events, both internal and external. Your responsibilities encompass various aspects of catering operations, including menu development, cost analysis, and marketing initiatives relevant to the catering department. You will also take charge of labor and food cost control, event preparation, transportation logistics, setup, operational execution, and post-event cleanup.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Recruitment, training, and development of managerial staff, actively participating in refining service techniques, menu presentation, and the establishment of policies and procedures.
  • Generating operational statements, reports, and budgets, while overseeing receivables collection.
  • Orchestrating catering activities, securing bookings, planning, and supervising events and functions.
  • Crafting proposals, contracts, and banquet event orders.
  • Formulating and monitoring budgets, financial targets, and forecasts.
  • Maintaining a local client database and fostering strong relationships with vendors.
  • Ensuring strict adherence to safety and sanitation protocols, in accordance with HACCP standards.
  • Undertaking related duties and special projects as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree is preferred, or an equivalent level of professional experience.
  • Demonstrated success in meeting sales targets.
  • In-depth knowledge of current food trends and fine dining service standards.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in the hospitality industry, including at least one year in Catering Sales.
  • Strong supervisory skills, encompassing scheduling, training, and coaching.
  • Ability to assess client requirements and deliver services that guarantee client satisfaction.
  • Proficiency in composing menu proposals in collaboration with culinary experts.
  • Essential proficiency in supervising food preparation, service, and cleanup processes.
  • Familiarity with audiovisual (A/V) equipment, including setup and dismantling for events.
  • Exceptional quantitative, verbal, and written communication skills, alongside adept problem-solving and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Outstanding leadership and organizational competencies, with adaptability to dynamic circumstances and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Advanced computer skills, particularly in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • A proactive approach, capable of remaining composed under pressure while anticipating and supporting changes in our business.
  • Unwavering commitment to the highest standards of personal integrity and ethical conduct.
  • Exceptional client relationship management and customer service aptitude.
