The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) invites you to apply today to be considered for a position that provides customer service to the citizens of Maryland every day. The MTA is one of the largest transit systems in the United States and is seeking dynamic and energetic individuals to join the MTA team.

The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) is recruiting for Technician Rail-Catenary Lineman. The employee will engage in diagnosing, troubleshooting, aligning, repairing, overhauling, constructing components, rigging, and recording wire thickness, stagger, and height measurements utilizing electronic recording devices. Maintaining the Light Rail Catenary System as operated by the MTA. The Technician Rail-Catenary Lineman will maintain all records and forms in conformance with all regulations and in accordance with the requirements of the MDOT MTA. The Technician Rail-Catenary Lineman must have experience in electrical, catenary, transmission, or utility linework. Must be able to understand and operate special equipment to support the maintenance and repairs of the Overhead Catenary System and all of its components, and be able to operate bucket trucks, mobile cranes, and platform trucks on both the light rail system and the highway. The operation of these maintenance and emergency vehicles is necessary. The Technician Rail-Catenary Lineman will be asked from time to time to perform various other duties as assigned. This position is located in Baltimore City.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Possession of high school diploma or equivalency (GED) certificate.
Experience: Satisfactory completion of a formal vocational or trade school program; or an apprenticeship program or any other training in the electrical, catenary systems, transmission, or utility line fields.
SUBSTITUTION INFORMATION
1. At least two (2) years of experience in the field of either electrical, transmission, catenary, utility line tree maintenance, underground electrical, substation, electrical services, or utility line maintenance may be substituted for the formal training requirements.
2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policies, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

During the probationary period, the employee will be required to obtain and maintain a valid Class A-Restricted Commercial Driver's License (CDL), valid in the State of Maryland, that must be maintained for continued employment.TO APPLY
