Category Manager (Pet & Auto) - Insights & Strategy

Signature Products Group is a leader in designing, manufacturing, and distributing products for some of the best brands in the world. We are proud stewards of our brand partners Browning, Carhartt, Realtree, Ducks Unlimited, Hooey, Chris Kyle and Huk. We are looking for a Category Manager within our Business Intelligence group, at our Salt Lake City, Utah location.

This Category Manager acts as a resource to determine & guide category strategy, opportunities and decision making through data. You will have a chance to work with the brand teams mentioned above, the internal teams at SPG – including a frequent partnership with product development - and our retail partners who sell these our brands online or in store.

A successful candidate will represent the voice of the consumer and objective market trends / sales data to assist teams in the development and execution of category and brand growth stories. This position will also provide market insights through the collection of relevant local and global market trends and shopper research techniques. As a part of business intelligence, you will support all facets of the business including product development, sales, ecomm, operations and senior leadership.

An ideal candidate will work well with different departments/personalities while answering a variety of key business questions. As such, problem-solving skills, strategic thinking, quantitate analysis and analytic proficiencies are key.

Role Responsibilities:

• Proven experience providing analysis and insights that had meaningful influence on strategies
• Experience using an array of data sources and methodologies (sell in / sell-through data, third party datasets like Nielsen or Circana, demographics & consumer data, etc.)
• You will be a key member in the provision of deep and relevant consumer insight on behaviors, habits, sentiments and preferences with an emphasis on strategy for the direction of product lines
• Align category business strategy to overarching company goals
• Pro-actively identify opportunities for category growth and improvement
• Analyze past sales figures/trends to predict future outcomes
• Provide market overviews, competitive analyses and performance insight for relevant product categories
• Assist with development and implementation of assortment, merchandising and pricing recommendations
• Engage directly with internal sales teams on category presentations

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Analytics, Marketing, Management or related field
• Analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving abilities
• A passion for curiosity and exploratory research
• Strong presentation skills and an aptitude for condensing large amounts of data into a meaningful story – experience story telling with data
• The ability to distil complex data sets down to their essential patterns and insights and allows the audience to focus on the underlying trends and insight
• Consumer market research, survey work and/or project management experience
• In-depth understanding of organizational data flow and its use in management decision making
• Ability to build internal partnerships and trust through objectivity and integrity
• Ability to influence without having direct authority
• Results oriented, with proven track record of delivering against expectations & deadlines
• Operate with a continuous improvement mindset
• Prior experience in consumer products, insights and/or data-based analytics a plus
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience interrogating databases and systems using SQL, SPSS, R,
• Qualtirics and/or other tools to obtain answers a plus
