Job description

The Cornell University campus is widely admired as one of the world's most beautiful academic settings. The Division of Facilities and Campus Services (FCS) is committed to providing the highest quality service to faculty, students, staff, alumni, and visitors. With more than 260 major buildings enhancing the magnificent landscape of the Ithaca campus, approximately 1,000 highly talented and dedicated staff serve as stewards of the campus resources and operations.
Position Summary:
This position provides an opportunity to be part of a team of professional operators dedicated to providing the safest over-the-road driving while maintaining the highest level of service in the motorcoach industry. Cornell Campus-to-Campus is well known as being the safest, most comfortable luxury service in the region, providing several roundtrips to and from NYC. We maintain the highest safety ratings for equipment and implement strict policies related to public health.
This position provides ultimate autonomy with availability of management when needed. The schedule is variable, providing ample time for other activities around drive time. Trip tasks involve adhering to a strict schedule of departure surrounded by thorough pre- and post-trip responsibilities. If you want to be part of a celebrated service at Cornell, this driver position is for you!
The Casual Motor Coach Operator drives for the Campus-to-Campus (C2C) program on an as-needed basis. C2C provides an executive, express Motor Coach service between Cornell's Ithaca and NYC campuses. C2C takes pride in provision of a safe, clean, and comfortable travel experience. C2C also operates van and smaller vehicle shuttles to various locations as assigned.
Motor Coach Operators safely operate a Motor Coach, and other passenger vehicles, while adhering to specified routes and schedules. Adhere to and comply with federal (including TSA), state (including Article 19-A), and local traffic laws, as well as Cornell University policies and procedures.
Likely stressful circumstances may include extreme weather, heavy traffic, or dissatisfied and unreasonable passengers. Overnight travel may be required for some scheduled trips.
This is a part-time, casual appointment with Cornell University. The rate of pay is $30.00/hour. There are no regular scheduled hours; the successful candidate(s) will be called in when business needs require.
Ours is a values-based organization where all employees are accountable for supporting the organization's values of truth, respect, excellence, teamwork, and integrity. FCS employees are required to attend staff development trainings and participate in the performance evaluation process.
