Retail Sales Job Description
Reports to: Retail Supervisor
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
▪ maintain clean and orderly checkout areas with adequate cash
▪ count money in cash drawers at the beginning or end of shifts to ensure that amounts are correct and that there is adequate change
▪ greet customers entering the store▪ process payments by cash, check, credit cards, and charge accounts▪ issue receipts, refunds, credits, or change due to customers
▪ count money, sort charge slips and balance monies▪ calculate total payments received during a time period, and reconcile this with total sales▪ fulfil customer needs to include location of product, value added suggestions and complaint resolution
▪ demonstrate use and operation of products, describe a product's features and benefits to include warranties, maintenance, and any pertinent product details, bag or package purchases and offer customers carry-out service
▪ stay current with sale products and prices▪ recognize and monitor security issues
▪ arrange and display merchandise to include keeping merchandise area tidy and marking prices on shelves and items
▪ take stock inventory, restock shelves and requisition new stock
▪ other duties as assigned
Education and Experience
▪ high school diploma or equivalent required
▪ 1 year cashier experience required
Skills / Qualifications
MUST PASS PRE EMPLOYMENT DRUG TEST
▪ strong communication and interpersonal skills▪ basic computer, cash register, and math skills
▪ adaptability, initiative, work ethic
▪ must be able to stand for long periods, bend and lift up to 50 lbs
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 25 per week
