Principle Duties:
Under general supervision of the Deputy City Clerk, receives and maintains records of cash receipts for payment of bills, taxes and fees. Duties include issuing receipts for funds collected, creating payment vouchers and maintaining bookkeeping records of work transactions. Work is reviewed through observation and written reports for adherence to established policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Receives, counts and balances cash receipts for the payment of bills, taxes, fees, permits and other related items; issues receipts for funds collected; makes daily settlement of monies; fills out deposit slips. Answers and responds to general information telephone inquiries; directs calls to appropriate department. Files, records and reports; maintains bookkeeping records of work transactions; performs related clerical work as assigned; types correspondence, periodic reports and monthly statements. Researches and records account payment, matching invoice number and amount; charges back insufficient funds checks; notes duplicate bills. Creates payment vouchers and maintains voucher files.
Minimum Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED; supplemented by two (2) years of experience as a cashier or teller in handling large sums of money; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Experience in Tyler /Munis or similar technologies preferred.
