Description

Position: Cash Reconciliation Analyst

Primary Location: Cape Cod/ Remote

Employment Status: Exempt

Reports To: Director of Revenue Cycle

Summary

The Cash Reconciliation Analyst is responsible for payment validations, customer service, correspondence within EPIC and SFTP site. Reconciliation Analyst must ensure that all processes meet all government mandated procedures for integrity and compliance.

Essential Functions

  • Produce daily finance reports including month end reports.
  • Reconcile all bank accounts for Outer Cape Health Services.
  • Maintain patient accounts and performing all billing functions.
  • Review payment variance log from vendor and assist with missing items.
  • Assist with payments being posted to the GL for legacy (EcW) payments.
  • Report recommending corrective actions if needed and assist in recommending quality improvement procedures.
  • Communicate with the Director of Revenue Cycle to keep abreast of potential risk exposure related to cash processes and discrepancies.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA guidelines and regulations.
  • Upload remits into STFP site if needed.
  • Post payments in EPIC manually.
  • Work a variety of claims denials including but not limited to; self-pay, payment arrangements, registration issues, patient payments and patient refunds.
  • EFT and ERA enrollments.
  • Work insurance denials, aging claims, requests and appeals with appropriate carrier.
  • Enter refund requests into EPIC and forward to the appropriate individual for issuance of checks.
  • Administrative duties as needed including phone coverage for patient inquiries, handling and resolving department mail and faxes.
  • Ability to work independently and identify when issues need to be expedited.
  • Other related duties and projects as assigned.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and communicate clearly and effectively with patients, vendors, leadership, and insurance companies.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications, Education, and Experience

  • Associate degree in health care, business or related field a plus but not required.
  • 3 years experience in medical billing/or medical practice experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • 2-3 years experience with cash operations including EOB interpretation, reconciliation, balancing bank accounts.
  • Knowledge of basic medical coding/ terminology and third-party insurance payers.
  • Experience with patient accounting systems and billing /claim submission software.
    • Epic software experience a plus.
  • Moderate to advance level in Excel.
  • Ability to create processes for training purposes.

Work Environment

  • The functions of this role are conducted in an office environment if living within 45 miles of Cape Cod.
  • Remote opportunities will be considered based on location.

Hours of Work

  • This position is full-time.
  • This is a full-time hourly position.
  • Overtime can be available when approved by the Director of Revenue Cycle.
