OVERVIEW OF GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Plans, schedules and conducts educational workshops and micro-enterprise classes for the unemployed and under-employed to include topics geared toward developing professional skills, including goal establishment, resume writing, interviewing skills, conflict management, nutritional maintenance, budgeting, and sustaining employment. Recruits and coordinates volunteer instructors from the community. Maintains current selection of software, video or DVDs, books, articles, and related subject matter materials. Identifies Internet resources designed to assist ASPIRE participants in career development activities and learning opportunities. Develops reviews and updates training standard operation procedure manual.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reading publications and online professional journals; establishing networks; and participating in professional groups to further develop the resource center for potential program opportunities.
- Creates and facilitates partnerships with area employers for on-the-job training and employment opportunities.
- Plans, schedules, and conducts orientation of new staff, volunteers, and interns.
- Assesses participants’ satisfaction with training and workshop services by designing and implementing satisfaction surveys and other research tools; analyzing and interpreting results. Applies feedback to improve the workshops.
- Prepares needs assessments by obtaining background information such as employment, education, social and family factors or history which contributes to the client's situation and by studying case histories of clients and residents.
Develops and implements case management plans to help clients mobilize inner capacities and resources to improve social functioning. Facilitates decision-making by providing consultations, recommendations or referrals, and appropriate advice. - Conduct individual, family, or group sessions per established case management plan and provide crisis intervention if necessary. Establishes rapport with community resources for financial support, i.e., delinquent rent, mortgage, food, and energy assistance. Conducts research, including developing and conducting surveys of participants and community residents on needs.
- Performs related duties as assigned by the supervisor to ensure program goals are met, agency policy is followed, and program standards are achieved at the highest level.
- The employee must be able to work well with various people.
- The employee must have a working knowledge of the principles and practices of social work. Must be able to develop and implement a service plan to maximize the client's physical, social, and emotional well-being; and coordinate and monitor service delivery.
- Ability to speak Spanish as a second language is preferred.
- The employee must recognize and be sensitive to the cultural, ethnic, and social diversity among the population served and the community at large.
- The employee must maintain strict confidentiality.
- The employee must be tactful and courteous when representing the agency to the general public.
- The employee must be committed to continuous quality improvement.
