- Accurate and timely processing of cut sheets and work orders.
- Learn and maintain efficient processes and routines in order to keep production and quality control high and minimize material waste/loss.
- Maintain a safe workspace by maintaining PPE and through safe use of carpentry tools and equipment.
- Provide timely communication with managers and fabrication coordinator.
- Process accurate inventory checks and communicate purchase needs with managers and Fabrication Coordinator.
TheCarpenter/Fabricatorwill be responsible for:
- Processing daily workorders, creating accurate cut sheets and verifying the accuracy of other team members cut sheets.
- Measuring artworks in order to create accurate quotes and cut sheets.
- Processing daily material inventories to ensure there are ample supplies on hand for each week's workload.
- Clean up work areas.
- Organize and maintain usable scrap materials.
- Empty trash bins regularly.
- Safely build DFAS basic and exhibit crates in the highest level of accuracy possible without supervision.
- Grow carpentry skills in order to assist with construction of special projects, building exhibition case work and other exhibit furniture and supporting materials.
- Develop or possess the skills needed to install case work and furniture on site as needed.
- Train with the Art Handling Department in order to develop the skills needed to pack and install artwork and work on site as part of an art handling team.
- Develop floor management skills in order to help manage daily workflow.

The ideal candidate will have these skills:
- Basic carpentry experience
- Understanding and safe use of hand tools and fabrication machinery.
- Be able to accurately read and use a tape measure.
- Able to read, understand and follow paperwork, drawings and take direction from colleagues and supervisors.
- Operate a forklift safely
- Communicate with DFAS staff, customers and vendors clearly and respectfully in face to face, email or phone interactions.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, reach high and low, work at a constant pace, and lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
- Be detail oriented, dependable, have ahigh level of mechanical aptitude and work well in a team environment.
Hours & Compensation
- This is a full-time position scheduled M-F 6am-3pm with occasional evening and weekend work as needed.
- 10% to 20% travel to other locations
