Scope:

The primary function of the Carpenter Team Leader is to execute and supervise the delivery of self-perform carpentry services for a multitude of projects. The Carpenter Team Leader possesses strong carpentry and supervisory skills to perform tasks in the field as well as supervise multiple subordinate carpenters and laborers to ensure quality and timely completion of assigned scopes of work.

FLSA Status:

Full Time – (Hourly – Non-Exempt)

Salary Range:

$35-$40/HR

Reporting Relationship:

Reports to the Self-Perform Scheduling and Procurement Manager

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The duties, responsibilities, and attributes of the Carpenter Team Leader typically include, but are not limited to:

Technical Skills

  • Capable of performing and supervising a wide array of tasks to include, but not limited to interior backing and blocking; roof blocking; installation of doors, frames, and hardware; installation of toilet and bath accessories; installation of access panels; installation of temporary safety railings and weather enclosures; limited painting and caulking, wood and metal stud framing; limited drywall; limited exterior and interior finish carpentry; limited concrete work; and limited demolition.
  • Capable of operating a range of equipment to include, but not limited to forklift, scissor lift, boom lift, and skid steer.
  • Capable of reading Construction Drawings to review applicable scopes and produce accurate estimates for time and material requirements.
  • Assists the Scheduling and Procurement Manager and Estimating Department with preparing accurate budgets for Self-Perform scopes of work, as required.Has the ability to manage a specific scope or area of a large project as part of a large project team. Management Skills
  • This position is expected to split time between management tasks (scheduling, procurement, supervising) and performing work in the field.
  • Assist in the development, maintenance, and enforcement of the Self Perform Labor schedule and provide input to project teams for planning in their CPM schedule.
  • Coordination of all daily Self-Perform labor activities.
  • Coordination of all material and equipment requirements needed for successful execution of Self-Perform scopes.
  • Shows the capacity to manage personnel across multiple Projects.
  • Attend weekly Foreman meetings and actively participates in meetings pertaining to the work they are managing.
  • Utilizes Job Hazard Analyses to identify and mitigate safety risks for tasks being performed by Self-Perform personnel.
  • Assists in implementing and enforcing a quality control program for all Self-Perform scopes of work.
  • Participates in training and works toward being proficient in WEO safety standards.
  • Basic understanding of project budgets and the ability to manage labor and material costs within fiscal constraints.
  • Train and mentor employees under his/her supervision
  • Develops clear and precise daily reports.
  • Through a sense of urgency drives for results and success
  • Takes initiative strives for increased responsibility, and has a desire to learn. Potential for growth into a full-time management role.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED

7-10 years of experience in the carpentry field, 3-5 years of experience in a Foreman position

Proficiency in basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook)

General knowledge and experience, using daily software tools, such as Bluebeam, Plan Grid, etc.

Preferred OSHA 30-Hour Safety Course, not required

Preferred First Aid and CPR certified, not required

Preferred Bilingual in English and Spanish, not required

Basic understanding of construction administration processes, including construction documents, schedules, RFIs, Submittals, and material procurement

Physical Demands:

Performance of the required duties will require physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb permanent and temporary stairs, operation of construction personnel hoists, ability to climb ladders, and negotiate work areas under construction. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Performing this job requires the use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, sit, talk and hear, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works on-site at the construction worksite where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts, elevated work areas, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and the risk of electrical shock. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud.
