Caretaker - Angels Rest

Location: Kanab, UT
Hiring Range: This position's hiring range is anticipated to be $15.00 - 25.00 per hour, depending on experience, plus great benefits!
Interviews will occur weekly until the position is filled.
Position Summary: The Angels Rest Caretaker's purpose is to enhance the visitor, volunteer and staff experience by providing genuine and heartfelt pet loss support, an excellent volunteer and tour experience, and by creating and maintaining the beauty, pet loving and peaceful environment of Angels Rest properties and memorials. The caretaker also supports Best Friends' philosophy and practice that every animal is treated as an individual by providing respectful and ceremonial end of life 'care' and 'tucking in'.
Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible for maintaining and improving Angels Rest properties, including landscapes, buildings and memorials. This includes working with heavy equipment.
• Using an onsite laser engraver, assist with engraving a variety of Best Friends memorial offerings. This provides the opportunity to offer creative ideas, while also maintaining a consistent look and feel within Angels Rest properties. The caretaker will also place and photograph memorials for sharing with those who placed orders.
• Assist with Angels Rest and Overlook experiences, such animal placements (ceremonial burials, internments), tours (including VIP tours) and volunteering. This requires compassionate public speaking, engaging with diverse audiences, comfort working while being observed, and coordinating safe and positive experiences.
• Help conduct monthly blessings. This could include participating directly while being filmed (e.g., doing a reading), assisting with set-up, engaging with blessing participants, etc. The caretaker will have the opportunity to suggest blessing themes, appropriate readings, etc.
• Speak comfortably and knowledgably to visitors about Best Friends' memorial offerings, and communicate with the public regarding their orders, the location of their memorials and help with general inquiries. Assist with fulfillment of memorial offerings as needed.
• Participate in the dignified and individual cremation of animals from Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, and potentially, staff and public animals.
• Maintain a safe workplace, valuing and modeling safe work practices, adhering to organizational safety practices and rules, and communicating about unsafe practices and conditions.
• While the caretaker will have two days off per week, it may not be two days together or Saturday or Sunday.
• Must be comfortable with a rotation of responsibilities and able to lift at least 50 lbs.
