Some duties would include:

• Bathe and dress residents
• Serve meals and assist residents with feeding (when needed)
• Pass medications
• Take vital signs
• Turn or reposition patients who are bedridden
• Collect information about conditions and treatment plans from caregivers, nurses and doctors and report and changes during your shift.
• Assist residents with toileting
• Answer patient call lights.
• Examine patients and report any: bruises, blood in urine or other injuries/wounds.
• Clean and sanitize patient areas.
• Change bed sheets and restock rooms with necessary supplies.
• Provide housekeeping for the residents room/house in general.
• Cook meals for residents (this chore can be shared with your co-worker).
• Skills in Homecare equipment: Eg Cpap machine,Insulin trained, vital signs ability.

CNAs/caregivers also serve as a conduit between patients and nurses and doctors and record and communicate all issues to the RN and House Manager. Depending on where a CNA works, other duties might include transporting patients to medical appointments or out for social calls ( we have our own vans) We truly are a family!
