Minimum Qualifications:
1. Master's Degree or its equivalent from an accredited university
2. Knowledge of the principles and practices of educational guidance, child growth and development theory, educational testing and measurement, counseling, Career and Technical Education, and the administration of guidance services
3. Valid Alabama teaching certification in school counseling
4. Documentation of suitability for employment and/or certification/licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457
5. Minimum of three years of successful teaching experience
6. Proficiency in oral and written communication skills
7. Effective interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on communication and collaboration with a wide variety of people and groups
8. Ability to develop curriculum and programming specific to the needs of Career and Technical Education students.
9. Ability to solve problems as an effective and productive team member.
10. Ability to use technology to communicate, plan and provide instruction, to facilitate student learning, to manage data, and to produce/submit required reports.
11. Physical strength, mobility, dexterity, stamina to perform job responsibilities.
12. Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance.
13. Such alternatives to the above qualification as the Board may require.
Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
1. Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, goals, and priorities
2. Disseminates information regarding Career and Technical and career opportunities.
3. Provides Career and Technical Education information to students seeking a career objective that may or may not include plans to pursue post-secondary education.
4. Provides orientation to incoming high school students concerning the Career and Technical Education course offerings/career technical pathways.
5. Works with middle school counselors to assist students transitioning from middle school to high school.
6. Utilizes technology to plan and provide instruction and facilitate student learning.
7. Keeps abreast of current changing job-entry skill requirements and changing technologies in business and industry.
8. Informs local businesses and industry of career Technical Education in the school, and seeks information regarding job requirement
9. Arrange and plan job fairs to expose students to job opportunities.
10. Maintains a file of catalogs, school profiles, and scholarship aid information related to schools, colleges, and institutions offering post-secondary career training and education
11. Selects, administers, and interprets standardized tests to assist students in making appropriate career choices.
12. Facilitates a placement program for students completing Career and Technical Education programs
13. Assists students in making application to post-secondary technical schools
14. Assists in the individual Career and Technical Education counseling of students
15. Assists other counselors and workforce coaches in matters about job recruitment, technical schools, and Technical opportunities.
16. Prepares follow-up studies of former students in Career and Technical Education programs.
17. Assists with Dual enrollment opportunities for Career and Technical students.
18. Assists teachers and students with credentialling assessments.
19. Attends local, state, and national staff development programs to improve professional performance.
20. Maintains confidentiality regarding student records/matters by state and federal laws.
21. Responds to inquiries and requests in a timely manner.
22. Reports absences and takes leave in accordance with Board Policies and Procedures.
23. Performs any other job-related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $59,378.00 - $118,266.00 per year
