Family & Child Empowerment Services (FACES) SF provides families who live and work in San Francisco
with high-quality early childhood education and enrichment; job support, training, and placement; and
comprehensive family support services and referrals. Our mission is to empower families who live and

Position Summary
The FACES SF Career Advisor is a talented individual who is committed to envisioning and actualizing
creative solutions that will help low-income individuals and families become socioeconomically
self-sufficient. The Career Advisor provides a wealth of useful information in key areas such as career
discovery and planning, interviewing skills, resume writing and more. Career Advisors work one-on-one
with individual job seekers; playing an important role as a mentor in helping these individuals shape
their futures. Interaction with our diverse and dynamic community in an affirming, positive environment
allows you to showcase your interpersonal communication talents to work in coaching and guiding our
clients. This is a full time, non-exempt position and reports directly to the VVJC Program Manager.
What You’ll Do
- Manage a constant and diverse caseload of clients
- Meet with clients to intake their education, experience, skill levels and areas of interests
- Interview clients one-to-one or in small groups to discuss career options and pathways to success.
- Provide advice and feedback on applications, job searching and interview skills
- Work with clients to create, structure and revise resumes, utilizing word-processing software (Microsoft Word)
- Analyze local labor market’s needs and research available employment and training opportunities
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with employment service providers
- Facilitate case management and career counseling for eligible participants
- Lead resume, job search and interviewing workshops for clientele - record, enter data from workshops
- Assess, survey and log demographic information from candidates and employers
- Maintain client records by updating their files with changes, progress and goals reached
- Scan, copy, email and fax documents for clients.
- Answer, assess and transfer calls at the front desk (As needed)
- Assist in groups, community events, facilitate interaction among clients and involvement in the participating programs
- Participate in regular staff meetings, staff development training and other community meetings
- Attend weekly check in meetings with the Program Manager to discuss progress and issues
Qualifications
You have a solid mix of the following knowledge, ability, skills and experience:
- Two or more years experience in vocational and educational programming ability to teach job readiness skills, provide job coaching/retention services to clients
- Ability to act as a resource for customers, provide customer service and guidance in a helpful manner and work effectively with diverse groups of people at various
levels both inside and outside the organization
- Capability to create and maintain positive and proactive relationships with clients, vendors coworkers and the surrounding community
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills with a focused emphasis on customer service
- Proficient in computer navigation, communication, MS Office and client database systems
- Knowledge of and connections to San Francisco area businesses, job-related government programs, and community services for low-income families (preferred)
- Multilingual (Cantonese/Mandarin or Spanish) preferred
- Ability to meet required state, federal, local, and CDC standards (including but not limited to fingerprint clearance, negative TB test, First Aid, CPR)

- Hourly rate $28.85 - $33.00 based on experience
