Summary:


The Care Standardization Specialist coordinates development and implementation of standard clinical inpatient and outpatient EHR (Epic) care tools by using evidence based clinical pathways, electronic clinical decision support, and other methods to reduce unnecessary variation in care delivery. The Clinical Care Standardization Specialist utilizes quality improvement methodology to coordinate the Care Standardization work with multidisciplinary teams with the aim of reducing health care fragmentation and improving quality of care, care coordination and health outcomes for our patients.

Responsibilities:


1. Coordinates development and implementation of standard clinical decision support tools in the inpatient and outpatient setting.

2. Collaborates with the Information Services department to validate clinical decision support build in the electronic health record system prior to implementation.

3. Ensures the use of evidenced based care in the development and updates of Care Standardization tools.

4. Ensures the establishment of metrics for monitoring effectiveness and utilization and follows improvement methodology to enhance all opportunities to standardize care for the best patient outcomes.

5. Responsible for coordinating and regular review of performance data with appropriate Operational Committees/ Clinical Leaders.

6. Coordinate efforts with support departments to create useful Care Standardization tools.

7. Conducts regular reviews of inpatient and outpatient order sets, therapy plans, and clinical guidelines.

8. Participates in organizational quality and value improvement initiatives.

9. Assists in the development of data reports related to Care Standardization work as needed.

10. Other duties as required.



Technical Expertise


1. Experience in the use of EHR (Epic preferred).

2. Knowledge of and experience in the use of Evidence Based Care.

3. Proficiency in MS Office is required (MS Word, MS Excel and MS Visio).

4. Experience in pediatric healthcare preferred.

Education and Experience


1. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is required; Master’s degree is preferred.

2. Certification: Registered Nurse licensure is required.

3. Years of relevant experience: 3 to 5 years is preferred.

4. Years of experience supervising: None.
