Title: Cardiology Medical Assistant/Receptionist
Part-Time into Full Time

With a passionate emphasis on cardiovascular education for both patient and staff, Parkview Cardiology PLLC is seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Medical Assistant/Receptionist to take care of its patients. There is currently one physician in this practice.
Location: Midtown NYC easily accessible by car, subway and bus.
Competitive salary commensurate with experience $15-20/h + benefits contribution (Paid Time Off, medical/dental/vision)
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate would have experience as a receptionist, can multi-task, and provide incredible customer service.
Recent experience in cardiology or outpatient internal medicine/family medicine (EKG, holter monitors, stress tests, manual BP) of at least 3 months in the past 1-2 years, medication reconciliation and patient intake experience preferred.
Vaccinations: Applicants must be fully vaccinated against COVID19 and Influenza (or must begin the vaccination process by the time of hire).
Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
We are looking for candidates who can do “front office (Reception)” AND “back office (Medical Assistant)” work.
Reception:
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Answering patients’ phone calls, emails, etc., register and book patients for appointments, verify their insurances, obtain prior-authorizations
Screening questions for COVID (to ensure safe visit)
Check-in: take credit card information, copay, registration forms
Helping patients with check-out (follow-up appointments, testing appointments)
Knowledge of speaking with insurance companies a plus.
Medical Assisting:
Chart-preparation: review chart before patient’s appointment to make sure consult notes and test results in chart
Triage: Greet/escort patient to exam room, obtain vital signs including manual BP, EKG, medication reconciliation, medical/social/family history, quality questionnaire, etc. Should be done in a thorough, yet quick and efficient manner. Demonstrate professional interaction with patients including use of patient gowns.
Take messages from patients including clinical messages (e.g., new symptoms), medication refills.
Place monitors (holter, event monitor, 24 hour Ambulatory BP monitor) on patient, register into system, keep log of monitors, ensure their return and download report for physician.
Perform stress tests.
Create a working and trusting relationship with patients including assisting them with various health-related needs when not providing direct clinical care.
Familiarity with Athena EMR preferred, but not necessary.
Prepare examination rooms and patients for visit
Maintain and manage office supply inventory
Assist patient to taxi or ambulance occasionally if being sent to ER
