Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Scan ultrasound patients in accordance with established standards and policies.
- Communicate with and assist Radiologists, Physicians, and their staff when called upon.
- Schedule all exams performed in the department and effectively communicate the patient's preparation instructions.
- Receive telephone orders and apply diagnosis checking according to Medicare guidelines.
- Proper cleaning of all ultrasound probes, especially the transvaginal probe with use of high-level disinfectants.
- Demonstrates values and behaviors according to Values Statement.
- Attends all required Safety Training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety and specific job-related hazards.
- Follows the Hospital Exposure Control Plans/Bloodborne and Airborne Pathogens.
- Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible and courteous environment.
- Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department/unit team inter- and intra- departmentally to facilitate the department's/unit's ability to meet its goals and objectives.

Professional Requirements:
- Complete annual education requirements.
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Report to work on time and as scheduled.
- Wear identification while on duty.
- Maintain regulatory requirements, including all state, federal and local regulations.
- Represent the organization in a positive and professional manner at all times.
- Comply with all organizational policies.
- Conduct oneself as a professional in accordance with PRIDE values.
- Participate in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities.
- Attend regular staff meetings and in-services.
Job Requirements:
- Completion of accredited Ultrasound Program (18-24 month program preferred)
- Vascular and Cardiac Registered Sonographer
- CPR-Basic Life Support
- One year in hospital experience strongly preferred.
- Renew ARDMS Certification annually at own expense.
- Obtain 30 CE credits every 3 years as required by the ARDMS at own expense.
- Must have thorough knowledge of protocols, techniques, and positioning.
- Must have general knowledge of ultrasound equipment.
- Demonstrate knowledge of anatomy
- Basic knowledge of pathology and other medical terminology.
- Demonstrate proper lifting techniques and patient handling.
