Job Summary:
The Cardiac Sonographer performs diagnostic non-invasive cardiac exams on patients using ultrasound testing equipment to evaluate the heart. The testing modalities include Transthoracic Echocardiography and Cardiac Stress testing.
Essential Functions:

• Performs diagnostic echocardiography examinations using ultrasound testing equipment to evaluate the heart during Transthoracic Echocardiography and Cardiac Stress testing examinations.
• Demonstrates ability to proficiently perform non-invasive cardiac exams.
• Demonstrate knowledge of cardiac anatomy, exam procedures, and interpretation of results.
• Prepares and monitors patients before and during procedures.
• Utilizes the hospital electronic medical record to review patient information and document any critical findings.

Education:

• Associates degree in an applied health science field with a concentration in cardiovascular technology, ultrasonography or other related study (preferred)

Licensure/Certification:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association (required)
• Required credentialed in echocardiography by one of the following organizations:
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)
  • Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)

Experience:

• Minimum of one year of experience as a Cardiac Sonographer (preferred)
• EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) experience (preferred)
• Picture archiving communication system (PACS) experience (preferred)
