Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and pletion of an accredited Perfusionist Technology program
- Certification by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion (ABCP) or meets other pany requirements as a perfusionist
- Ability to be on-call and travel as scheduled
Responsibilities:
- Document perfusion procedure and patient parameters
- Operate heart-lung machine to divert patients' blood and circulate it outside the body, administer drugs and anesthetic agents through the cardiopulmonary bypass circuit, and control body temperature during surgery or respiratory failure for myocardial protection
- Monitor and observe operation of heart-lung machine and patients' physiological variables such as blood temperature, blood position, and flow rate, and adjust equipment to maintain normal body functions
- Operate other mechanical devices to assist in the conservation of blood and blood products during surgery
- Clean, adjust, and maintain heart-lung machine in proper functioning condition at all times
- Deliver controlled cardioplegia
- Demonstrate knowledge and skill necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served, within the Clinical Perfusionist Scope of Practice
- ply with all applicable statutes, rules, and regulations, policies and procedures, and ethical standards
- Ensure adequate supplies are maintained and order supplies as needed
