Job Summary and Qualifications

The Cath Lab Manager supports the mission, vision, and values, as well as goals and objectives of Swedish Medical Center and the HealthONE organization. Responsible for operations of Cath Lab and the assistance in the integration of the cardiovascular service line within overall hospital functions. Collaborates in decision-making structures and processes at the unit, service line, and organizational levels. Knowledgeable of healthcare trends and participates in strategic planning for department and service line with supervisor and hospital leadership. 

The Cath Lab Manager works with his/her staff to review case volume and complexity daily and leads efforts to optimize care and services provided. The Cath Lab Manager directs his/her staff to organize, coordinate, and facilitate patient care on her/his department/unit during operating hours. She/he is responsible for the interviewing, monitoring, coaching, evaluating and disciplining process in collaboration with the Director of Cardiovascular Services. 

Accountable for the implementation of an effective and continuous program to measure, assess, and improve performance and operational efficiencies. Manages the department to a high level of quality indicators and regulatory compliance. Assures a high level of patient and employee satisfaction. Manages productivity to achieve budgetary targets, billing and coding compliance, human resource management, and overall supply management, and assist with coordination of any clinical research involving the Cardiac Cath Lab. The Cath Lab Manager also coordinates with Education Department to oversees education and clinical competency for all staff and assumes management of all radiation safety programs for staff and patients. The manager assumes twenty-four hour responsibility for delivery patient care and cardiovascular services within the Cath Lab, and performs other duties as assigned. 

What qualifications you will need:
  • Licensure/Certification: National registry with Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS), or current licensure in the State of Colorado as a Registered Nurse, or current active multistate nursing licensure. Current BLS and ACLS Certifications through AHA or ARC.
  • Education: Completed an accredited CV training program or Radiologic training program.. Degree in Applied Science required. Bachelor’s degree in related field within 1 year of employment.
  • Experience: Five years of clinical experience within the Cath Lab setting. Expert knowledge in all aspects of interventional and diagnostic procedures including but not limited to: electrophysiology cases, primary percutaneous coronary interventions, management of the STEMI patient, peripheral vascular interventions, structural heart interventions, and research protocols in the Cath Lab setting.
  • Skills and Abilities: Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and other members of the healthcare team. Ability to manage and lead a team to ensure quality patient care. Strong critical thinking skills. Will demonstrate good organizational skills, ability to teach or mentor in an effective manner, and have clinical expertise that enhances this position. Demonstrates ability to plan and provide for delivery of clinical cardiovascular services. Assumes responsibility for self development.
