Job description

WECU is seeking a temporary (6-months) part-time Cards Services Specialist to join our team located in Bellingham, WA. This is a part-time position in which you will be scheduled to work roughly 25 hours per week.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Monitors, investigates, and responds to various card fraud alerts and member frauds reports.
  • Responsible for thoroughly investigating reported and detected card fraud, ensuring that all appropriate actions are taken to recover and minimize fraud losses.
  • Exercises discretionary judgement and initiative regarding fraud claims within the parameters of the credit union’s policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Reports fraud files over $5,000 or more when the suspect is known and $25,000 or more if the suspect is not known to the Compliance department.
  • Maintain knowledge of Visa and other network regulatory requirements.
  • Initiates and monitors all adjusting entries through Visa and all PIN networks for cardholder disputed transactions.
  • Responsible for daily balancing of all Visa credit and debit signature transactions by comparing the network totals to the host totals. Post and/or reverse all mismatch items daily.
  • Responsible for daily balancing of all PIN based debit card transactions by comparing the network totals to the host totals. Post and/or reverse all mismatch items and network-initiated adjustments daily.
  • Responsible for contacting Elan for any ATM uptime issues. Back up for placing ATM hardware service calls with Diebold.
  • Responsible for creating logins and resetting passwords with our instant issue vendor as well as answering general instant issue questions.
  • Responsible for creating logins and resetting passwords with our gift card vendor as well answering general gift card questions.
  • Maintain knowledge of Visa and other network regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible for all Card Services tasks related to the Student Visa program.
  • Post and audit all rewards redemptions associated with the Choice Visa rewards program.
  • Responsible for initiating and sending daily card orders to our processor.
  • Responsible for notifying cardholders and issuing new card numbers when notified by Visa of a potential compromise.
  • Responsible for monthly reissuing of all card programs.
  • Provides routine information concerning credit union services.
  • Responsible for general typing, filing, computer input, and miscellaneous duties.
  • Cross-sells all services of the credit union.
  • Performs all internal operational activities pertaining to the Visa credit and/or debit card programs. Maintains adequate records and controls for the cardholder and the credit union.
  • Performs duties as staff liaison to credit unions outside service bureau. Responsible for providing instruction to credit union personnel on new procedures.
  • Responsible for daily balancing of cash advances.
  • Responsible for tracking and researching ATM offages.
  • Follows policy and procedures related to Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Customer Identification Program (CIP) and Customer Due Diligence (CDD) daily to ensure compliance with current regulations. Monitors accounts for suspicious activity related to the Bank Secrecy Act, paying special attention to repeated cash withdrawal card transactions that fall just below the $10,000 reporting threshold. Reports fraud files of $5,000 when the subject is known or $25,000 or more if the suspect is not known to the Compliance department upon notification. Completes incident reports as applicable. Completes mandatory BSA/AML annual training via online web course.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.
  • Follows WECU’s policies and all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and may also assist others to complete tasks and work assignments.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Successful completion of high school mathematics and grammar to balance daily work and to effectively communicate policies and services to the membership and calculate routine interest rates.
  • Some experience in an operational and/or member service area of a credit union or financial institution.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of credit union services and policies to effectively answer member questions.
  • Ability to do semi-routine and detailed work.
  • Skilled in the use of office machines (personal computer, etc.) and an on-line data processing system.
  • Ability to do detailed work with accuracy.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Must have the ability to interpret and explain credit union policies and transactions posted via debit and credit card programs.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete multiple jobs simultaneously.
  • Proficient telephone skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate in a business-like manner with members.
  • Ability to represent the credit union in a positive, professional manner in person, on the telephone, and in written correspondence.

COMPENSATION:

The salary range for this temporary (6-months) position is from $21.37 to $30.17 per hour.
