Work Arrangement

Hybrid - This role will require you to be onsite a minimum of three days per week. The work location is in Warren, MI.

The Role
First-level supervisor of a group of manufacturing engineers engaged in developing stamping manufacturing plants, equipment/tooling alternatives, sequence and flow of operations for the effective utilization of personnel, material, machines, containers and facilities necessary for the cost-effective production of parts. You will work cross-functionally across operations, containers, purchasing, labor relations, and engineering to optimize GM’s manufacturing competitiveness and manufacturing cost per unit (MCPU).

What You'll Do (Responsibilities)

  • Evaluates sheet metal allocations
  • Monitors and balances stamping utilization
  • Develops, analyzes and presents project information
  • Provides information for various management systems
  • Coordinates implementation of projects
  • Develops programs for effective cost control
  • Conducts special cost & capacity studies
  • Recommends new methods of operation and work standards
  • Optimizes use of floor space, materials, personnel, and equipment
  • Assists in planning facilities and operations
  • Leads coordination of reallocations and factory assist
  • Work will involve managing day to day activities of a team of engineers, including setting objectives, managing results, and evaluating/coaching individual performance.

Additional Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)  

  • 10+ years of professional experience supporting stamping manufacturing strategies for production, maintenance, and tool and die.
  • 10+ years of professional experience supporting vehicle manufacturing and an in depth understanding of stamping processes including their impact on stamping operations safety and efficiency.
  • Leadership experience including staffing, evaluation, and ongoing organizational development
  • Excellent communication skills to simplify complex technical issues for diverse audiences, including non-technical stakeholders and Senior Leadership.
