Summary
This individual will be an integral team member in the management of the sales & operations planning (S&OP) process that satisfies customer demand while delivering high service levels in the most profitable way. They will manage supply planning for up to $1B of volume and instrumental in revenue growth, working capital management and overall profitability.
Specific Outcomes
As a team, the Capacity Planning organization is responsible for balancing supply and demand within the Americas Division driving customer OTIF to targeted levels of 98% for each facility. This individual will be responsible for developing contingency plans for their region on critical items to ensure a reliable supply of product to key customers. Initiates and recommends plant loading strategies, department crewing schedules and business transfers, while minimizing associated costs, including freight and suboptimal production.
Manage the monthly supply plan models for each converting facility that identifies and allocates plant resources of people and equipment. Ensures the model is tied to the forecasted demand plan, and is updated to reflect inventory builds, business transfers and overtime requirements. Reviews supply plans on a semi-monthly basis with the plant operations team to drive alignment and participate in supply plan reviews with Directors of Operations and Finance to develop and align on long term/strategic plans.
Supports the development of the monthly Supply Review and Executive Sales & Operations Planning Review. Responsible for summarizing current and future state capacity vs. demand, outlining critical roadblocks for success, escalating potential service or critical issues impacting performance, profitability and long-term growth strategies. Articulates supply/demand tradeoffs to senior leadership.
Partner with plant schedulers to develop weekly dashboard updates for each facility outlining current backlogs, OTIF performance, inventory levels and develop action plans where necessary including running overtime, taking downtime, developing run efficiencies, business transfers and inventory strategies.
Responsible for developing inventory strategies that support both service levels and overall company-wide working capital strategies. Creates inventory builds for each plant based on monthly supply and demand forecasts, creates inventory targets for critical items, supports the reduction of aged material and reviews targets on a quarterly basis.
Identify and help implement optimization opportunities aimed at reducing converting costs (including overtime), (GPI) mill freight, and customer freight, and improving (GPI) mill trim while considering capacity issues. Identify enablers and roadblocks, and work with Sales and plant management to implement business transfers or new business. Maintain a list of optimization candidates and quantify the financial impact of actions implemented.
Review new business opportunities and collaborate with other Capacity Planning personnel, Sales, and Operations to determine plant placement for items by quantifying customer requirements, costs, plant capability, and capacity. Rebalance capacity as necessary and identify headcount implications.
Work on special projects as directed. Partner with Sales & Operation Leaders on projects including strike contingency plans, new equipment, equipment modifications, plant rationalizations, mergers, acquisitions, etc.

Required Skills
Advanced computer skills in Excel and PowerPoint a must; knowledge of SAP preferred.
Prior experience with rough cut capacity management.
Change management.
APICS CPIM certification desired.
Ability to manage several tasks simultaneously across multiple departments and facilities.
Excellent Verbal and Written communication skills.
Understanding of capacity plans, manufacturing schedules, and lean manufacturing processes.
Track record of inventory control and cost reduction due to increases in manufacturing efficiencies.
Experience with Advanced Planning systems.
Required Experience
Bachelor's degree in business, operational management or engineering; advanced degree preferred.
5-7 years of experience in manufacturing required.
1-3 years of experience with Integrated Business Planning required.
