Now hiring a Cancer Registrar II - Oncology Data Specialist.

 

In compliance with national, state and accreditation standards, identifies, collects, interprets, analyzes, codes, summarizes and maintains complex cancer patient data from a range of relevant sources, using multiple data systems, to ensure accurate, comprehensive, and timely patient records and statistics. As a clinical informaticist, uses technical knowledge and data systems to develop, validate and present Registry data reports for committees, special projects, physicians and administrators.

Ideal Candidate:

Candidate must have the ODS credentials to demonstrate a requisite knowledge and professional competence needed within the cancer registry.

 


  • Education: Associates Degree required
    Successful completion of an Associate's Degree in any field or 3 years of experience in lieu of degree.
  • ODS credentials

  • At all times, complies with HIPAA guidelines and safeguards patient confidentiality.
  • In strict compliance with standards and abstracting rules set by national standard setting bodies, abstracts and codes a complete and accurate matrix of patient information and clinical data using appropriate classification systems, as referenced in multiple hard-copy manuals and online resources, for all cancer patients diagnosed and/or treated by Presbyterian Cancer Care.
  • Proficiently uses multiple data systems to ensure complete patient record (Epic EMR, TriCore, Radiology Associates, E-Path, etc).
  • Exhibits ability to make decisions based on subject knowledge and type of source material, while functioning under the guidance of the abstraction process rules established by national standard setters.
  • Ensures cancer registry requirements defined by the standard setters, American College of Surgeons (ACOS) and the Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) program are met and maintained.
  • Exhibits ability to understand, verbalize and comply with all electronic and manual data flow, abstracted and entered into the Registry system, and pulled from the Registry system.
  • Prepare narrative reports and graphic presentation in creating a patient summary that may include diagnosis methods, staging, treatment patterns, recurrence, and surveillance of one or more disease states in cancer patients documented in the Registry.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptation to changes in standards, data systems and registry policies, as well as timely self-education on changes in data and abstracting requirements and use of information technology systems for

  • Demonstrate ability to comply with requirements for follow-up on patient data and cases abstracted, to ensure complete and accurate records for Presbyterian, New Mexico and national cancer databases and statistics.

The compensation range for this role takes into account a wide range of factors, including but not limited to experience and training, internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each offer.
USD $30.21/Hr.
